Ms. Hamm completed her Honours degree in Health Sciences before embarking on her Masters degree in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia where she conducted biochemical research on Retinitis Pigmentosa. She has been awarded academic scholarships through Foundation Fighting Blindness, Foundations in Vision Research, CIHR and University of British Columbia Ophthalmology and Interdisciplinary Studies departments.
Ms. Hamm has been able to merge her fascination with the visual system with her love of different cultures by volunteering with eye care projects in the Philippines, Nicaragua and Tanzania, and through her involvement in World Sight Day.
For the last three years, she has directed her interest in perception towards vision rehabilitation at CNIB through her role as a Low Vision Specialist. She considers it a privilege to work with people who have the courage to learn new strategies to cope with vision loss everyday.
